FAQ

Is it really dustless?

Dustless Blasting uses water to suppress the plume of dust, allowing you to work almost anywhere with minimal containment and cleanup.

Imagine that you are stripping a car in a football stadium. With Dustless Blasting, the blast media would be contained in an area about the size of the logo in the center of the field. On the other hand, if you were dry sandblasting, the entire stadium would be filled with airborne media.

Unfortunately, the process isn’t magic. Media that goes into the machine must come out, and it doesn’t disappear into thin air. But compared to sandblasting, the process creates far fewer airborne particles.

 

Where is the equipment made?

We are proud to be a 100% American manufacturer located in Houston, TX. Is there a warranty? MMLJ pressure vessels (blast pots) are backed by a lifetime warranty. Other components, such as the compressor, axles, and water pump are covered by their own individual manufacturer warranties.

Which machine should I choose?

Your choice will depend on the type of jobs you want to tackle. All our machines are capable of the same process, but we offer various sizes that are appropriate for many different jobs, from small hobby projects to large industrial jobs.

The most popular machines for starting a business are the DB500 Mobile XL and the DB800 Mobile XL.

Can my truck pull the mobile machine?

When fully loaded, the compact DB500 Mobile S weighs about 5,500 lbs and it can be towed by most trucks.

The larger DB500 Mobile XL weighs about 9,100 lbs when fully loaded. It generally requires a 1-ton truck to tow it.

Finally, the DB800 Mobile weighs about 9,700 lbs when fully loaded.

 

What kind of abrasive can be used?

For wet blasting, you can use any abrasive as long as it is clean, consistent, and sinks in water. The most inexpensive and popular choice of media is 40/70 recycled crushed bottle glass.

The mobile machines are also capable of dry blasting and soda blasting, for which you can use any media that a traditional dry blaster or soda blaster can use.

What about rust?

By using our specially formulated rust inhibitor, you can prevent flash rust for up to 72 hours. Add the inhibitor to the blast water to prevent flash rust during blasting, and then use it as a rinse after blasting is complete.

What PPE is required?

The Dustless Blasting® process is far safer and cleaner than traditional blasting methods. When open air blasting, we recommend (at minimum):

  • Eye protection, such as a face shield or safety glasses

  • Hand protection, such as leather gloves

  • Ear protection, such as earplugs or earmuffs

The RPB® Nova 3® Comfort System is the best way to stay safe and comfortable while blasting. The included climate control module can provide supplied air that is 20°F above or below the ambient temperature.

Is Dustless Blasting eco-friendly?

Since the debris is captured with the water during the blasting process, Dustless Blasting makes containment easy, so it's perfect for use in areas with strict environmental rules and regulations. 

  • Use 1/3 less abrasive than traditional sandblasting

  • Use a tiny fraction of the water used in power washing

  • Avoid toxic chemical strippers

Is Dustless Blasting a franchise?

Dustless Blasting is not a franchise. There are no fees or royalties, ever. You truly own your business and are free to make 100% of the decisions and keep 100% of the profits. You still get some of the benefits that come with a traditional franchise, like brand recognition and pre-made marketing materials.

 

Do I need your marketing materials?

We do not require our contractors to purchase our marketing materials. However, consider this: Your time is valuable, especially when launching your business. You won’t get paid $300/hour to design a brochure in Microsoft Office, but you can make that kind of money blasting. Isn’t your time better spent landing that first job? You don’t have to develop a marketing strategy, design business cards, or learn to code a website when we’ve already done all that for you.
